THE HUNDRED HEARTS wins 2014 Raddall Award

THE HUNDRED HEARTS has won the 2014 Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award, a $25,000.00 prize for the best book from Canada’s Atlantic provinces.

The award is the legacy of Thomas H. Raddall, a famed Canadian writer who lived and worked in Liverpool, N.S. Begun in 1991 with a $2,000.00 endowment by the late Thomas Raddall, it has since been augmented through the efforts of his son, also named Thomas, in honour of his father’s memory. The purpose of the award is to give writers the time and peace of mind to write.

I am extremely grateful to Dr. Raddall, to his late father, and to the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia for their support. Thanks also to my fellow shortlisted nominees, Shashi Bhat and Ed Kavanagh, who came from Vancouver and Newfoundland respectively to read from their work and bask in some richly-deserved attention of their own.
